Insurance & Fees

One of the biggest barriers to starting therapy is not knowing what it's going to cost. I want that to be as clear and stress-free as possible - so here's everything you need to know upfront.

  • I am in-network with the following insurance plans through Headway:

    • Cigna

    • Aetna

    • Carelon

    • Quest

    • (BCBS coming soon)

If you have one of these plans, your therapy sessions may be covered at your in-network mental health benefit rate. This typically means you pay your copay or coinsurance after your deductible is met - which varies by plan.

Don't see your insurance listed above?

That doesn't necessarily mean you're stuck paying full price.

Many insurance plans include out-of-network benefits - which means your insurance may still cover a significant portion of your sessions, even if I'm not in their network. Depending on your plan, you could be reimbursed for 50–80% of the session cost after your deductible is met.

I use Thrizer to make this process as simple as possible.

If your plan has out-of-network benefits: Through Thrizer Pay, you only pay your estimated coinsurance at the time of your session (similar to a regular copay). Thrizer covers the rest of my fee upfront and handles the insurance claim on your behalf. No waiting weeks for a reimbursement check. No paperwork on your end.

If your plan doesn't include out-of-network benefits, or you prefer the self-pay route: I can provide you with a superbill after each session (a detailed receipt that you submit directly to your insurance for reimbursement). Thrizer can also help you upload and track those claims so you're not navigating it alone.

Not sure what your plan covers? Thrizer offers a free instant benefits check so you can see exactly what your insurance would cover before you ever book a session.

Not sure what your insurance covers?

Here's how to find out before your first session:

    • Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card

    • Ask: 'What are my outpatient mental health benefits?' and 'Is Calm Waters Counseling in-network?'

    • Ask about your deductible, copay, and whether there's a session limit per year

You can also reach out to me directly - I'm happy to help you figure out your coverage before we get started.

  • If you prefer not to use insurance, are between plans, or your insurance doesn’t have out-of-network benefits, private pay options are available.

    •  Individual session (50 minutes): $120 per session

    • Free 15-minute phone consultation: Always complimentary

  • Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care before beginning services. If you are uninsured or paying out of pocket, I will provide this estimate in writing before your first session. If you'd like to know more, just ask.

  • Payment is processed securely through SimplePractice or Headway at the time of each session. I accept all major credit and debit cards, FSA, and HSA cards.

  • I ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations and no-shows are subject to a the full session fee, as that time cannot be offered to another client. I understand that life happens - if something comes up, please reach out as soon as possible.
